Don't ignore this spring

- 19th March 2017

You won't find much Internet traffic concerning this spring, but it's really important. Every time you pull the trigger, this spring gets compressed by the striker.

This spring's job is to retract the striker after firing - to get the striker pin out of the primer before ejection. If it doesn't do that, you'll end up with a lot pin drag. Your primers will show an elongated mark instead of a round indentation. The case is ejecting while the pin is still in the primer. That's rough on your striker and you want to reduce it as much as possible.

I change this spring whenever I change the striker spring. I think this is especially important when using one of the "extra power" striker springs.
