The PistolGear "Operator" is the first magwell available for the XD that is not proprietary. What does this mean? It means that you can use your stock magazines or inexpensive extensions (e.g. AGP Arms, Arredondo) and not break the bank by purchasing expensive proprietary basepads. The funnel of the magwell increases the area by 30%, making tactical reloads both easier and smoother.

If you use stock magazines with this product, you will need to use an extension of sorts, since the base of the magazine will be below the funnel of the magwell. We suggest the use of the PistolGear "Slam Pads".

This magwell is IDPA legal and is perfect for Law Enforcement as well.

This product is for the XD 9x19 / .357SIG / .40S&W / .45GAP Models only! It will not fit on XD45ACP nor XDm Models. This product will not fit the XD Subcompact models. Some fitting may be required.

If you want your magwell in a color other than the standard black or silver, please select a color from the "optional color" list.  Please note that any part that is Cerakoted is deemed to be a special order item and may not be returned.

Grinding Required

FC - 26th March 2012

Great product after you use a dremel drill to grind the item. The stock magwell does not allow your magazines to seat in properly. This is quite expensive for $80 plus shipping and handling and you still have to do a bit of work to get it to work with your magazines. Pistol Gear please fix the issues with the magwell. The "Unlimited" magwell works perfectly on my xd45. I just wished the "Operator" worked just as easily on my xd9. [PG NOTE: Not sure what issue you are having, as you should have to do zero grinding to have the magwell fit your frame or have the magazines seat properly. The only optional fitting is to blend the plastic of the frame to the bevel of the magwell. Perhaps you over tightened the plug which distorted your frame, etc?]

Reduces Reload time

NightHawkIX - 08th February 2012

Magwell really reduces reload time- allowing for more slop on aligning the magazine into the well. Also looks really good.

Install is a bit of a pain-- I had to file down the notch that's in the grip where part of the magwell installs to. The notch for me went the entire length of inside hole and it was a pain to file it all out... Magwell also not perfectly flush with the beveling of the pistol's magwell; also, there is a small space gap on the front where the magwell doesn't quite contact the pistol.

Good, but not $80.00 good..

Dont get me wrong the magwell is nice and functionality is great, but for 80 bucks the aluminum feels a little cheap and the previous comments about coating are correct. At glance it looks like a silver piece of plastic rather than aluminum. Not to mention significant fitting is required on your part. Looking back I would have tagged on a bit more money to pick up Canyon Creek's stainless steel magwell for 20 bucks more... just my 2 cents...

GREAT MAG WELL

RICK - 02nd August 2010

THE MAGWELL LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS BETTER HAD TO DREMEL OUT PLASTIC RIB WHERE IT INSERTS ALSO DREMELED OUT WHERE IT MEETS THE GUN SO THERE IS NO LITTLE EDGE NOW THE PLASTIC MATCHES UP WITH THE MAGWELL.

Awesome magwell, works excellent and looks sharp. I shoot IDPA and USPSA and have no complaints about the functionality of this magwell. I highly recommend it to anyone with an XD for competition shooting. Would like to see a better finish on the magwell such as duracoat though since the paint rubs off so easily. (PG NOTE: The parts are aluminum anodized, not painted)

Top-notch Magwell

Jason - 16th August 2009

This magwell is excellent. It makes competition speed loads remarkably faster. You will likely need to file out the inside of the grip to make insertion perfectly smooth.
Also, if your frame has a "rib" running down the back of the rearward hole, you'll have to file about an inch of it down, which can be slow in the enclosed space.
