A Slam Pad is an inexpensive way increasing your magazine's overall length.  The extra length is usually required when using a magwell. Since the Slam Pads are made of rubber, the pads will offer your magazines a little protection when your magazines are dropped during a reloads.

Please note that the adhesive on the Slam Pads is not intended to be a permanent solution. If you feel the adhesive is not strong enough for your needs, we suggest you attach the Slam Pads to your magazine basepad with glue, such as hot glue, rubber cement or epoxy/superglue (if you want the slam pads NEVER to come off)

The reason for the two holes is simple. If you own a XDm in 9x19, you will notice that the baseplate release is not in the center of the magazine. Because of the two holes in our Slam Pad, this product will fit ALL XD and XDm magazines.

  • Sold in a pack of five (5).
  • Each pad includes a pressure sensitive adhesive
  • Thickness: 0.375"
  • Too large for XD Slim Magazines
  • Note: This product, when installed on a XDm magazine, will fit the IDPA box.
  • Some fitting (reducing pad thickness) may be required for your application

Ideal and Cheap

Jim Rowe - 30th December 2013

I bought a pack when I bought a magwell for my XD Tactical. I shoot IDPA and Limited 10. The Slam Pads work as advertised. Like others have stated, don't expect the adhesive to be a permanent solution. I knew this going in and attached the slam pads to my magazines with hot glue. So far, they are holding strong. If they fall off, I will go to super glue. I am giving this part a 4 because of the weak adhesive. That said, at a cost of $3 per pad, I believe this item to be an excellent choice for those who shoot competition.

Great Idea. Bad Product

Steve - 25th December 2013

I purchased a set of these Slam Pads after I purchased PistolGears operator magwell and needed an extended the basepad to be able to seat the magazine well. I thought these would be a great cheap alternative. Boy was I so wrong, except for the cheap part that is. I cleaned the mag basepads with alcohol, keep pressure when installing. Let it sit for a couple of days to fully dry. They seemed to be stuck on pretty well. I took at local defensive handgun class at Sig, the first reload when the mag hit the deck the first pad flew off. The 4 remaining ones did not last more than 30 min. Save your money and headaches, get the real basepad.

slam pads

The slam pads work great the adhesive is strong and easy to apply. The added length helps to get the mags seated quicker and i dont worry about dropping an empty mag on the concrete at my local range any more. Great product super service fast shipping thanks pistol gear

Work great...when they stay on.

Dan - 07th November 2012

The slam pads do exactly what they say they do. They extend the bottom of the mag just the right amount to ensure a secure and positive seat when I reload. My only gripe is that they fall off. I've already lost two at some point, and I have no idea where they are. The only thing left from them is the layer of adhesive on the mag plate which is a pain to get off seemingly anything except the slam pad it is supposed to keep attached. (PG NOTE: Temperature extremes can affect the adhesive. You can use things like superglue, rubber cement, epoxy to better hold the slam pads in place if required)

Not IDPA Legal

Jason - 15th September 2012

I just got a procedural at an IDPA match, because my gun (XDM-5.25 40S&W) did not fit in the box with a magazine in it. Without the magazine, the pistol, which is stock plus a pistol gear magwell and some internal changes, fit fine, but the extra height of the 0.375" slam pads kept it from fitting. (PG NOTE: This is correct. In order for the XDM 9/40 models to fit the IDPA BOX, you must use the .250" Slam Pads or sand down the .375" slam pads. The .250" pads can be found here: http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=00PG002)

Awesome
